The Prophetic Element and Time

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning G-d created the heaven and the

earth.

After returning from a few days of outdoor

activity and being more or less isolated from the

daily routine of media news, I sat up late

watching the Science channel because there were a

couple programs that caught my attention. Most

of the time, I lose interest quickly because I

can only take so much of the dogma laden

programming. But I sat and watched most of the

two programs, one about Time and the other about

The Big Bang Machine. The program on Time was

nothing new, mostly the same old boilerplate,

with the recent revision about the timeframe

related to the arrival of man on the evolutionary

tree. These programs tend to be long on dogmatic

assertion and short on technical detail. In

other words they tend to state without any

qualification that what they represent is

complete and accurate, and they represent the

whole truth and nothing but the truth. In the

past, I've posted a few pages to point out that

there is a wide range of controversy surrounding

assertions related to the timeframe of evolution.

Evolution is a doctrine. It always has been and

alwys will be, because there is no way to

scientifically demonstrate what happened at the

beginning of time or since then. With the Big

Band Machine, some will attempt to propose a

scenario for the beginning of time, but if you

notice, the appearance of the material universe

does not explain its origin, or the element of

time. Really, What is time?

In the Time program on the Science channel, they

take the standard doctrinal approach to

speculating about long ages of earth time by

assuming the gradual accumulation of geological

formation and erosion at the Grand Canyon,

Arizona. I've been there and I've seen it and

it's an awesome sight. But to prove the

timescale of it's origin is another matter. The

one technical feature missing right away from the

Science program is a technical discussion of the

processes involved in the origin of a large

geological formation. From the size of the Grand

Canyon, it's evident that there was, in the past,

one or many large scale geological events that

involved the erosion needed to lay down many

layers of sedimentary rock strata in quick

succession. There should be evidence of the

timeframe carried within the rock formations.

One line of evidence would be the continuous

'rain' of debris from outside our atmosphere. In

the Time video, they took us to the meteor crater

in Arizona. That stuff is 'raining' down on the

earth continuously, just not as dramatically,

thank goodness, as the evidence at meteor crater.

That debris should be present within all of the

rock strata everywhere if it did take, as

speculated, a million years per inch of

sedimentary rock formation. We don't see that

evidence, and it is not discussed in the video.

My educational background is in science too, and

I like to see more detailed evidence to support a

'theory' or doctrine. If, the evidence is not

there to support the 'one inch per million years'

doctrine, then it has to be viewed as a purely

speculative assertion -- dogma.

Over the past weeks and months, I've posted a few

of the prophetic passages in scripture that

demonstrate without a doubt the prophetic

foretelling of the Holy Ghost, through the words

of the prophets. Most foretelling is directly

related to the messiah, Jesus. But the book of

Daniel provides us with a prophetic timeline of

earth history and the kingdom of man. In other

places, we see that there is a consistent

doctrinal declaration of the beginning (creation)

and the end of time. The timeframe is not on the

scale of millions of years.

Then, we have to recognize the plain teaching of

Jesus himself. What did Jesus say? Looks to me

like he taught that there is a prophetic element

in time, and the earth's (and heaven's) timeline

is bounded by fulfillment of prophetic events.

Matthew 5

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law,

or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to

fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and

earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no

wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
