Old And New

New And Old

Ecclesiates 1
5 The sun rises and the sun sets,
and hurries back to where it rises.

6 The wind blows to the south
and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
ever returning on its course.

7 All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
there they return again.

8 All things are wearisome,
more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing,
nor the ear its fill of hearing.

9 What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.

10 Is there anything of which one can say,
"Look! This is something new"?
It was here already, long ago;
it was here before our time.

11 There is no remembrance of men of old,
and even those who are yet to come
will not be remembered
by those who follow.

Henry Morris says it well:

"...This combination of ancient pantheism and
modern pseudo-science. a melange of eastern
mysticism, astrology, holistic health, and
environmental movements, modern systems theory,
one-worldism, prosperity cults, and even so-called
anthropic cosmology, consists of a veneer of
scientific intellectualism with socialistic and
Marxist political theory, and even occult
communications with the "soul of the cosmos",
achieved through mystical meditation, seances, or
hallucinogenic drugs.
Every aspect of this "New Age" movement is based
on evolutionism, and the movement, as a whole, is
pure pantheism..."

The fact of the matter is that the modern theory
of biological evolution, as seen in modern text
books, is a DOCTRINE not science. As a doctrinal
category, it is a religious philosophy. Henry
Morris gets it. Do you?

As I see it the biggest hurdle that we have to
cross in modern christendom is the situation of
scientific and thelogical illiteracy. Most of us
are neither scientists nor theologians. Or,
maybe one, but not the other. Even if we had our
theology straight, the other would be put in its
proper context. It would become obvious that
evolutionism is of a religious rather than a
scientific category. I would suggest that it's
about understanding the use of metaphor, and
others might suggest that it has to do with
understanding illusion.

Years ago, I picked up a book called 'The Biotic
Message', by Walter James ReMine. It's not just
a little light reading, but it's worth the effort
to work through. I have not yet had the time to
completely work through the entire text, to
thoroughly study the references. But he starts
off by putting the discussion in its proper
context. ReMine, in the Preface, states that he
was able to gain insight into the situation because
he has a background as a hobby magician, and points
out that "The Amazing" Randi has built a reputation
debunking illusionist phenomena. To put it in a
nutshell -- we are easily tricked when we don't
recognize what we are looking at. Here's a quote:

"...Life was designed to look *unlike* evolution,
and to see this, one must understand evolutionary
theory deeply..."

In other words, you can take someones word for it,
but in order to become aware of the genuine flaws
in the theory of biological evolution, it is a
must that you learn a few of the details. And we
know who lurks in the details.

We have to try to remember that there really isn't
anything 'new' under the sun. There are, however,
alot of old worn-out ideas that have been
repackaged to appeal to a 'new' audience. And
that's the only thing 'new' about the modern 'New
Age'. What's in your wallet?

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and
forever.

II Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

If it's newness that you want, get on the bus.
It's all about Jesus.
