Bye Fidel

Deu 31:24 It happened, when Moses had made

an end of writing the words of this law in

a book, until they were finished,

25 that Moses commanded the Levites, who

bore the ark of the covenant of Yhwh,

saying,

26 Take this book of the law, and put it by

the side of the ark of the covenant of Yhwh

your G-d, that it may be there for a

witness against you.

27 For I know your rebellion, and your

stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive

with you this day, you have been rebellious

against Yhwh; and how much more after my

death?

28 Assemble to me all the elders of your

tribes, and your officers, that I may speak

these words in their ears, and call heaven

and earth to witness against them.

29 For I know that after my death you will

utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside

from the way which I have commanded you;

and evil will befall you in the latter

days; because you will do that which is

evil in the sight of Yhwh, to provoke him

to anger through the work of your hands.

30 Moses spoke in the ears of all the

assembly of Israel the words of this song,

until they were finished.

I see that Castro resigned.

It's the end of an era, the resignation of
Castro. He represents the last of the
Communist holdouts that have held power in
my lifetime. The Soviet Union is gone.
China is creeping away from the cultural
revolution that began under Mao. This era
is a testimony to the failure of the
communist model of government. None of
these regimes was able to acheive the ideal
communist state. The reason is that the
communist ideal is based on an assortment
of falsehoods. It's not a political blog,
so I don't want to wander into the arena
of political theory, just make an
observation, with an emphasis on the point
that when G-d is forgotten in the model of
government, it will soon perish from this
earth. Didn't our founders have something
to say about that? So much for the secular
intiatives that this country is in hot
pursuit of. Is that what we the people
really want? I don't think so. Many of us
still have a vague notion that we would
prefer to have G-d on our side, even though
as it is inscribed on our currency that, In
G-d We Trust, we tend to equivocate.

Scripture has a few things to say about
trust. There is a passage in the book of
Deuteronomy known as The Song of Moses. As
we know, Moses was the reluctantly
appointed leader of the hebrews as they
fled Egypt. By that, I mean to point out
that Moses really didn't want the job, but
he wasn't offered other options. So, he
took it. It's not so unusual. Many of us
face tough choices in life. We weigh the
options and hope to find the path of least
resistance.

Some excepts from the passage known as The
Song Of Moses:

Deuteronomy 32

1 Give ear, you heavens, and I will speak;

Let the earth hear the words of my mouth.

2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain; My

speech shall condense as the dew, As the

small rain on the tender grass, As the

showers on the herb.

3 For I will proclaim the name of Yhwh:

Ascribe you greatness to our G-d.

4 The Rock, his work is perfect; For all

his ways are justice: A G-d of faithfulness

and without iniquity, Just and right is he.

5 They have dealt corruptly with him, [they

are] not his children, [it is] their

blemish; [They are] a perverse and crooked

generation.

6 Do you thus requite Yhwh, Foolish people

and unwise? Isn`t he your father who has

bought you? He has made you, and

established you.

7 Remember the days of old, Consider the

years of many generations: Ask your father,

and he will show you; Your elders, and they

will tell you.
--->
15 But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked: You

have grown fat, you are grown thick, you

are become sleek; Then he forsook G-d who

made him, Lightly esteemed the Rock of his

salvation.

16 They moved him to jealousy with strange

[gods]; With abominations provoked they him

to anger.

17 They sacrificed to demons, [which were]

no G-d, To gods that they didn`t know, To

new [gods] that came up of late, Which your

fathers didn`t dread.

18 Of the Rock that became your father, you

are unmindful, Have forgotten G-d who gave

you birth.

19 Yhwh saw [it], and abhorred [them],

Because of the provocation of his sons and

his daughters.

20 He said, I will hide my face from them,

I will see what their end shall be: For

they are a very perverse generation,

Children in whom is no faithfulness.
--->
28 For they are a nation void of counsel,

There is no understanding in them.

29 Oh that they were wise, that they

understood this, That they would consider

their latter end!

30 How should one chase a thousand, Two put

ten thousand to flight, Except their Rock

had sold them, Yhwh had delivered them up?

31 For their rock is not as our Rock, Even

our enemies themselves being judges.

32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom,

Of the fields of Gomorrah: Their grapes are

grapes of gall, Their clusters are bitter:

33 Their wine is the poison of serpents,

The cruel venom of asps.

34 Isn`t this laid up in store with me,

Sealed up among my treasures?

35 Vengeance is mine, and recompense, At

the time when their foot shall slide: For

the day of their calamity is at hand, The

things that are to come on them shall make

haste.

36 For Yhwh will judge his people, Repent

himself for his servants; When he sees that

[their] power is gone, There is none

[remaining], shut up or left at large.

37 He will say, Where are their gods, The

rock in which they took refuge;

38 Which ate the fat of their sacrifices,

And drank the wine of their drink-offering?

Let them rise up and help you, Let them be

your protection.

39 See now that I, even I, am he, There is

no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I

wound, and I heal; There is none who can

deliver out of my hand.

Failure of the Communist-Marxist model of
government is because it excludes G-d.
Well, not exactly. The Deity is replaced
by the Dictator. Kinda' like the mother-
in-law figure. Fidel was a feeble deity
on the larger scale. He wasn't able to
generate much wealth for his subjects.
It's the pagan model of government. The
local deity has an anthropomophic
embodiement, in the form of the dictator.

There is always a need for a god-figure,
because man, created in the image of G-d,
was created with that need. It was
originally satisfied with the ever present
Creator in Eden. But all that changed with
the fall of man, when the curtain was drawn
between the heavens and the earth. Yet, it
remains that everything still has its basis
in theology, and an accurate knowledge of
who He is and who we are in relation to
Him. Scripture has spelled it out, but
just as in the days of Moses, we choose to
fashion deities (and their theologies)
after our own corrupt self-serving
mythologies. It may be that we are able to
keep dragging it out for years, but
eventually the myth will bear it's own
bitter fruit, just as Moses points out. In
the end it will always be the same. The
Lord says, There is none who can deliver
out of my hand. In other words, you will
never win in a contest against the Lord,
except for as long as He chooses to allow
you to go your own way. He will not
surrender his throne.

Proverbs 16:33 The lot is cast into the

lap, But its every decision is from Yhwh.

In other words, as long as the model of
government refuses to recognize the higher
authority of G-d, it will eventually come
to the same end as we have witnessed in the
fall of the communist state in our time.

Pagan governments are nothing new. They've
been around since shortly after the
beginning of time. But they never last for
very long. Just take a look through the
history books if you want evidence from the
pen of the secularist. Even though they
write the evidence, they can't see their
own reflection.

I haven't ever been much interested in the
communist paradise of Cuba, but I think
that Castro has managed to do a better job
than most dictators, if only for the reason
that he survived as long as he did. In
itself, that's no insignificant
acheivement. Yet, even with his tireless
efforts, under the communist model, there
is not much to get excited about. Maybe it
has something to do with what Moses had to
say to the hebrew people thousands of years
ago.

Deu 32:45 Moses made an end of speaking all

these words to all Israel;

46 He said to them, Set your heart to all

the words which I testify to you this day,

which you shall command your children to

observe to do, [even] all the words of this

law.

47 For it is no vain thing for you; because

it is your life, and through this thing you

shall prolong your days in the land ...

Moses let the people know that G-d rules
from His throne in heaven, and if you will
live according to His law, it will go well.
If, on the other hand, you forget about G-d
then the outcome is not so good. In
another passage, the words used to describe
this are to choose between life and death.
As much as there may appear to be other
alternatives, they will always narrow down
to one of these two directions -- life or
death, right or wrong, true or false, G-d
or Satan. Here's how Jesus put it:

Mt 6:24 "No one can serve two masters, for

either he will hate the one, and love the

other; or else he will hold to one, and

despise the other...

Even though we are surrounded by binary
logic, we just don't like to think that
way. It's either heaven or hell. Go with
Jesus. Get on the bus.
